Use the map’s actual appearance.

The included add-on renders the loaded map from above using Garry’s Mod. Load the map in a local single-player game with its required content mounted.

  1. Download the capture add-on and extract its synapse_map_capture folder into GarrysMod/garrysmod/addons/.
  2. Start or reload a single-player map. Open the developer console and run synapse_map_capture.
  3. Choose the XY bounds, camera height and optional roof cutoff. The “Use current position” button helps set a crop around where you are standing. Capture writes a PNG and coordinates JSON under garrysmod/data/synapse_maps/.
  4. Choose Import top-down image here and select that PNG. Draw each sector’s corners, then press Enter to finish. Drag labels into place.
  5. Save your editable project and export a PNG. In District control, use Map options to load the exported map.

The game renderer can omit areas because of visibility culling, skyboxes or map-specific geometry. Crop to the playable area, adjust the height and capture smaller areas if needed. This add-on has not been runtime-tested in Garry’s Mod in this workspace.
